About Us

Formed in 2001 The Western Australian Brewer's Association (WABA) is the peak representative body for craft brewers in Western Australia.

WABA represents the growing consumer demand for more flavourful beers, the use of quality ingredients and promotes the benefits

We are a member driven organisation that also works with the community to:

  • Enhance the status and general awareness of microbreweries in WA
    • There are over 30 Craft Breweries in Western Australia and WABA represents a great portion of them, working with them on joint initiatives, events, education, promotion and assisting new breweries enter the industry.
  • Promote brewing and beer education
    • WABA is proud to say that its long history (in craft beer terms) and hard work have helped promote our industry to the point where Edith Cowan University has been offering a brewing course for several years, and many of our fantastic young brewer's have come through there.
    • We also run many other educational offerings for the general public, such as beer and food matching, beer tasting 101 and more.
  • Help represent the interest of Members within the general community
    • We promote our member breweries and our industry as much as we possibly can. WABA is dedicated to making sure that every member of the Western Australian public (or Australian for that matter) know that world class, craft brewed, boutique beer is brewed right here in their backyard.
  • Work with the Government to assist breweries on issues such as taxation reduction and small business development
    • Excise tax on beer is in short terms "a bastard" while small wineries enjoy excise tax relief compared to large wineries the craft brewing industry has no such luck, we pay the same tax as the big boys, meaning we have to charge consumers more. All the brewing industry wants is equality with the small wine industry so that we can grow and provide punters with the best, freshest products available at an accessable price.
