2009 Cryer Malt Perth Royal Beer Show Results.

The 2009 Perth Royal Beer Show again demonstrated WA’s place at the top of Australia’s Beer perch. Featuring almost 300 entries from 65 exhibitors from around Australia and Nearly 200 people at the Parmelia Hilton for the PRBS awards dinner, the first time a Dinner has been held for the awards. They gathered to see WA take out the Champion Beer, and a former WA Brewery take out Champion Brewery.

Margaret River’s Colonial Brewing Co. won the Cryer Malt trophy for the best commercial beer of the show for its Colonial Kolsch. The brewery also won the Barrett Burston trophy for the best ale draught and the Premier’s Trophy for the best WA beer of the show.

Other WA trophy winners include Henley Brook’s Mash Brewing, which took home two awards for best stout draught and best lager draught and Myaree’s Billabong Brewing for best stout.

Woolies takes slice of WA Brewer

Woolworths; one of Australia's largest supermarket and liquor retail companies has taken it's first step into production through an acquisition of 25% of Gage Roads. The Deal worth an estimated $1.9 million includes a contract for the brewer to supply 350,000 cases to Woolworths various liquor outlets and will see Gage Roads brewing Woolworths in house brand beers. Woolworths currently has its exclusive beer Platinum Blonde contract brewed at Independent Brewers.


2009 AIBA Results

WA brewing Struts its Stuff
A WA Brewery has topped the World's Second Largest international beer competition.  The Australian International Beer Award held in Melbourne featured more than 1100 brews from 39 countries, with WA dominating the trophy pool.

Swan Valley-based Feral Brewing Company took out five of the 15 trophies on offer,

Champion Hybrid Beer: Feral White
Champion Scotch and Barley Wines: Razorback
Champion Exhibitor
Champion Small Brewery

The Blackwood Valley Brewing Company added to Western Australia's haul with its Blackwood Stout receiving Champion Stout.

WA has consistently dominated the awards over the past several years and this year was no exception as WA six awards this year, ahead of Victoria which won two and New South Wales and Queensland who took out a trophy each.

WABA thanks all WA entrants on a superb showing and congratulates all who picked up medals and trophies.

Once again WA brewers have demonstrated their brewing skills by taking over 60% of the top trophies.

A big congratulations to John Stallwood of Nail Brewing Australia for winning the top WA trophy for his Stout.

March 08 Awards: Sydney and Victorian Beer Awards

Congratulations to the Western Australian Breweries! We are once again has shown it brewing prowess by scoring very well in the Sydney and Victorian Beer shows. Nail Brewing Australia won a Gold in Sydney for their Stout; and Billabong Brewing won the Champion Porter trophy for their Porter in the AIBA.

Furthermore, out of the top scoring Gold medal winners at the AIBA, WA won 30% of the top honours in 7 of the 21 classes:
