2023 was our first State Band Championships without our former president, Tony Schraven.

 

Tony was such a wonderful supporter of Western Australian banding, and indeed Australian banding as a whole. A person who epitomised the true spirit of community banding, Tony served as both president of WABA and the National Band Council of Australia as well as many other committee and volunteer positions as well as playing in many bands.

To recognise Tony's enormous contribution to WA Banding WABA have named the Open A Grade Concert Band trophy in his honour.
